Allis-Chalmers Dealers Repair Parts Catalog
Model "WD" Tractor, May 1953
The book overall is in good condition with all 191 pages. The outside shows normal ware with one area of rust colored stain. The bottom right corner has been creased. (see picture). The binding cloth has come loose about 11/2 inch from the top and bottom.
This catalog contains complete parts information for Model "WD" tractors. Except for some common hardware all parts are identified with an item number. Common hardware not identified such as bolts, nuts, cotter pins and lubrication fittings, are listed in the text under the part which they attach or fit into. Note particularly that the quantity of hardware listed is always the quantity required for one part. (Foreword in Catalog, First paragraph)
A small History. Allis Chalmers started out as a small burr millstone maker in 1847. By 1979 they had grown into a $2 billion corporation and were one of the important machinery and tractor manufacturers in the United States. The original company, known as "Edward P. Allis & Company" was built by E. P. Allis of New York after acquiring a shop called "The Reliance Works". The Reliance Works' list of products included French burr millstones, portable mills, water wheels, shafting, hoisting screws and much more.
Beginning production in 1953, the WD45 had the same general look as the WD tractor which was produced earlier - but was much more powerful. This was due to the new 4-cylinder "Power Crater" gasoline engine with a 4 x 4-1/2 inch bore and stroke.
I have no idea if this parts catalog is for the WD45 as you can see from the cover picture it just says "WD".
We only have 1. The first person to purchase will receive the item. Thank you.
